VARLAAM HOLY MONASTERY
This certain painting was designed and reflected for the first time by our workshop, upon the arrival of the founders of the Varlaam Holy Monastery Theofanis and Nektarios in Saint Lithoupoli Meteora.
The picture has some intense symbolic elements. On the top left is the Monastery’s model to be built.
The construction begins with the first Mass celebrated at the root of the rock where the Angels symbolize the Divine Presence during the Holy Service.
They also keep a jug with water symbolizing the Divine Consolation and a rock that symbolizes the hard future fight to follow up on the rock. The few objects that they use (Table, Lamp and Gospel) indicate the hard and austere life of monks and the meager means at their disposal.
On the right by the tree are depicted the tools showing by their simplicity how difficult the Monastery was built.
